Tonight JOOHdah’s Juke Joint Thursdays pays special tribute to its founder, Derrick “OOH” Jones by returning to its original venue home at Nowchild Soundstage, located at 409 East Preston Street. This very special homecoming will “Celebrate OOH Forever”, will be hosted by Civ Jones and Eze Jackson, and will include performances by B-Fly and Jahiti.
OOH’s untimely departure from this earthly realm last June was a shocking blow to the city in general, and the performance arts community in particular. Many Baltimoreans were touched in some way by this man’s presence as an artist, an organizer, an educator, an activist, and a community leader, and even now, nearly a year later, the void he left behind remains painfully open and unfilled — not that it ever really could be.
Please come out to share memories of this legendary man with others whose lives were impacted by the “BIG O – BIG O – BIG H”, and travel down memory lane with us here at Speakerbox by clicking links here and here.
