Speakerbox Magazine wants to remind everyone that today is PRIMARY ELECTION DAY throughout the state of Maryland. Polls are open RIGHT NOW, and close tonight at 8 p.m.
In statewide offices, Marylanders are voting for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Comptroller, Attorney General and Representatives in Congress in Maryland’s eight congressional districts. Today’s elections also include voters selecting State Senators, members of the House of Delegates, and Judges of the Circuit Court in the state’s eight circuits. There are also elections for numerous offices going on in local counties – for example, Baltimore City will vote for city’s State’s Attorney, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Register of Wills, Judge of the Orphans’ Court, Sheriff, and members of the Democratic Central Committee in the city’s legislative districts in addition to voting for the statewide offices.
We encourage everyone to get out and vote. Yeah sure, there are lots of reasons not to. But there are more reasons to vote – the most important one being that your voice is important, and deserves to be heard, even if you don’t think it is. Our voices are something that can’t be taken from us, even when other things are, and it is vitally important to remember this as we go to the polls.
See you at the polls!
