Today I’m going to do a bit of my own horn-tooting and happily announce that the magazine finally has an original logo design as seen above. It was provided by vocalist/poet/photographer/graphic designer/all around fly chick Alex Alexander.
Alex is definitely someone I’m going to be interviewing in the very near future, but I’m giving this multi-talented MICA grad a very special shout out in regard to this logo design because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I went to her with no idea of what I had in mind — not a sketch or an image in my head, nothing. All I had was the magazine name, the tagline, and the web site address, and I wanted them all incorporated into the design. Oh — and I knew I liked red. We met, we talked, I told her I could give her very little direction in this endeavor. But I knew I could trust her, because I’ve seen her work on CD singles and for the Bolton Hill Open Mic Series flyers (third Friday of every month — check it out if you can, click this link for details), and they are AMAZING as graphic design pieces, as photography, and as artwork all rolled into one. I highly recommend her for your portraiture and graphic design needs, especially logo design obviously. Don’t believe me? Several of the Bolton Hill flyers are below, and check out Alex’s work via Facebook!
